Light in the Dark and RGB
Director of photography Everett Gorel's weapon of choice was a Panasonic Varicam. Through the generosity of Canon, additional HD lenses were donated to the production.
Contributing videographers from Louisiana Public Television used Sony's HDCam while junior lens men used several types of Digital HD, HDV and Beta SP/SX. These cadestine shooters mixed formats resulted in a wide variety of frame rates and sizes. Archival stock types ranged from 3/4 Sp video to technicolor film.
It was a challenge to the post-production team to seamlessly integrate the different formats. Much of the material had to be relinked to the audio. Furthermore, the low resolution footage used for the bulk of the edit had to be hand matched to the camera original high resolution footage.
